Cerámica Karibe

Cerámica Karibe explores the relationship between clay, territory and the body.

The work begins with clays sourced from different regions of the Dominican Republic, including Bonao, Las Terrenas and Río San Juan. The clay from Río San Juan is gathered and processed by hand in the studio, transforming a material taken directly from the landscape into small wearable ceramic objects.

Each piece carries traces of its origin: variations in color, texture and surface that emerge through shaping, glazing and firing. Conceived between jewelry and sculpture, these necklaces bring the material landscape of the island into an intimate relationship with the body.
